2 STORM BETTER IN EVERY WAY When Vónin began looking to enter the market for trawl doors, the company’s designers started with a list of requirements for a new door design that would meet the needs of demersal trawlers working on tough grounds, and in areas where sea ice can be a regular challenge. The result is the Storm design, a combination of a semi-pelagic design and a conventional bottom door a so-called hybrid trawl door, which has the capability of being towed on relatively little warp and can be lifted so that they skim the seabed during the tow if this is a requirement. • DESIGNED FOR TOUGH CONDITIONS • ASPECT RATIO 1,2 (STANDARD) Developing trawl doors isn’t quick or simple – there’s extensive computer modelling to maximise efficiency and stability, plus comprehensive CFD analysis. The next stage is to try scale models in the flume tank, followed by full-scale testing at sea and a lengthy trial period to confirm both efficiency and long-term durability. -----------------------------1--982-4--6------1----15512478745284727251566147634613312336534268.2063846.84523530470609619780524537921178973564680421022008404356186436200828653208705041209376442116998eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee++-----00000++-+++++++++-++++++-+-++++-+++++++++++++++++0000000111120000000000000000000000000000000000000000011121000000000000000000000000000000000000000 C ontours ofPressure C oefficient X ZY Sep 09,2019 AN SYS Fluent15.0 (3d,pbns,trans-sst) 4 FOILS STORM
